Groundbreaking held for new CDC at Pete East
Groundbreaking was held noon Monday, March 8, 2010, for a new $8.1M child development center to be located in the Pete East area, across the street from the Peterson Air Force Base BX/Commissary.

Construction is scheduled to start in April of 2010, and the new center is expected to be fully operational by August 2011. The facility will be built in accordance with sustainable design and Facility Energy Attributes principles outlined by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. Upon completion, the new CDC will be Peterson's firs LEED-certified facility.

The new child development center is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. It will be a one-story facility encompassing approximately 25,000 square feet, and with the capacity to accommodate approximately 192 children: 24 in each of the four preschool activity rooms, 14 in each of the four toddler activity rooms, and 10 in each of the four pre-toddler activity rooms. The new CDC will include four outdoor play environments that will include landscaping, playground equipment, play houses, solar shades, perimeter fencing and activity area buffers - and a parking lot sized to accommodate 81 vehicles for parents and staff.

Welcome to Peterson AFB! We hope that you will consider choosing our program to be the place your child will spend his/her time while you are apart. Our primary goal is to provide a safe, nurturing environment that will foster your child's growth and self-esteem.

We have two Child Development Centers on Peterson AFB. Our Main Child Development Center, Bldg 1350, is the larger of the two and offers infant through preschool care. The Annex Child Development Center, Bldg 1525, offers a smaller facility for pre-toddler through preschool child care. We are continually striving to provide the highest quality of childcare for the children. Throughout this growing process, we encourage parents to take an active role in the program. Parents are a vital link to the success of our program and the children's experiences in the Child Development Program. We invite parents to visit with the staff and spend time with their children at the centers.

Again, we hope that you will entrust your child's care to us. We look forward to many positive experiences with you and your child.
